Summer art camp

Edenton 2018

Edenton Summer Arts & Crafts Camps welcome youth of all ages and experience levels. No prior experience is necessary! Each class is designed for the comfort of beginners and the advancement of experienced students.  We encourage all ages to join in the summer fun and creativity.

Our Summer Arts & Crafts Camps teach children about a multitude of art media, from drawing and painting to metalwork, felt, clay and music.  Instruction in various creative techniques, hand coordination skills, and tutorials on tools and equipment will be covered.

Our Summer Art programs are organized into two different age groups.  All classes run for one week, Monday through Thursday. Age groups and meeting times are listed below.

Edenton Summer Arts & Crafts Camp : (Grades K – 3rd) meet 9:00 am – 12:00 noon.  Students may arrive as early as 8:45 am.

Edenton Summer Arts & Crafts Camp : (Grades 4th – 8th) meet 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.  Students may arrive as early as 12:45 pm.

Week 1 | July 9 - 12

Art With Everyday Objects

Instructor Carisa Copeland (grades K – 3rd)

Make sculptures and designs using everyday objects while learning about multimedia printmaking compositions. Create colorful compositions with yarn for a woven hanging textile.

  • Grades K – 3rd
  • Class will be held at White Oak Elementary School in Edenton, NC
  • 9:00 am – 12:00 noon, daily.  Snack-time midway through class.
  • Students may arrive as early as 8:45 am.
  • Pick-up between 12:00 pm and 12:15 pm.

Murals & Masterpieces

Instructor Catina Byrum (grades 4th – 8th)

Join us in painting a permanent installation at the school! We will explore several techniques in painting, printmaking and drawing using oil pastels, paint, and drawing materials. Help create a mural that will leave a wonderful scene for students, staff and visitors to enjoy for many years to come. 

  • Grades 4th – 8th
  • Class will be held at White Oak Elementary School in Edenton, NC
  • 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm, daily. Snack-time midway through class.
  • Students may arrive as early as 12:45 pm.

Week 2 | July 16 - 19

Art Sampler

Instructor Justin Smith 

 Explore the world of 2-D Art! Students will use markers, paint, crayons, glue, paper, and more to create compositions during this adventurous week. In this class campers will learn about color mixing, composition, and scale. Students will experiment with a variety of mediums and techniques to create two and three dimensional works of art.

  • Grades K- 3rd
  • Class will be held at White Oak Elementary School in Edenton, NC

  • Students may arrive as early as 8:45 am.

Adventure into your favorite media in this class.  Experiment with tempera and watercolor paints, graphite and charcoal, and colored pencils and crayons.  Learn to use different materials in one composition to create eye catching designs! In this class participants will learn about perspective, color schemes, spacing, and layout.

Drama Camp

Love acting? How about playing dress up or performing? Come experience all aspects of of drama through collaboration, public speaking skills, and acting games. Learn how to create scenery, costumes and props for your short play performance at the end of the camp. No experience? No worries, all skill levels are welcome!
