Online Workshop Scholarships

We are pleased to now offer financial assistance for our online workshops. These need based scholarships will cover 50% of tuition for one online workshop in any media.

 

Rolling Deadline. Please submit your application no later than four weeks before the start of the workshop. Notification of acceptance will be sent no later than two weeks before the start of the workshop.

Full & Partial Scholarships

Full and partial scholarships are available for every summer workshop, and include full or partial waivers of tuition and housing. Full scholarships have a work-study requirement.

Scholarships for online workshops will be offered again soon.

Funding is generously provided by The John & Robyn Horn Foundation, the Bruce Barnett Scholarship, the James C. Hook Scholarship, and individual donors.

Studio Assistant Scholarship

Studio assistants are responsible for helping instructors as directed, recording student material purchases, upholding Pocosin policies, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. They should have enough experience in their studio area to be capable of helping other students as needed.

Studio assistants receive housing, tuition, and a meal stipend. They are responsible for their own travel, material costs, and studio fee for the workshop. Selection is based on knowledge of a working studio, relevant experience, and merit. Studio Assistant Scholarships may not be available for every workshop.

Pocosin Fellowship

Participants in this new program will take a class in every 2024 summer session tuition-free, and receive housing and a small living stipend. Fellows also participate in the ten-day Summer Residency program. In exchange, Pocosin Fellows assist with tasks around campus for approximately 20 hours per week.

Applicants must be on campus during weekdays for the entire program duration and must have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle.

The James C. Hook Scholarship for Tyrrell County Residents

Pocosin Arts believes that the arts should be accessible to everyone, and strives to provide art education opportunities to its community. The James C. Hook Scholarship offers Tyrrell county residents half to full tuition scholarships to any workshop at Pocosin Arts. Standby Program

Every summer, we have a few seats remaining in our summer workshops and we make them available to area residents at half tuition. Standard costs apply to materials, lodging and meals. This year, the program is available for registrations after June 1, 2024, for residents of Chowan, Dare, Hyde, Pasquotank, Perquimmans, Tyrrell, and Washington Counties. This program is also open to all K-12, college, community college and university educators, regardless of where they live.

Space is limited. To register, please call (252)796-2787 between 9 AM and 4 PM, M-F. Standby registration closes the Thursday before the start of the workshop.
