Contract Position: Summer Art Camp Instructor
Supervisor: Program Director
Position Description: The Summer Art Camp Instructor is a full-time contracted teaching position. Summer Art Camp Instructors are responsible for teaching craft projects for youth (ages 6 – 18) enrolled in our summer camps. They are the primary supervisors in our classrooms and ensure that their students are having fun in a safe and welcoming environment while they explore their creativity, develop problem- solving skills and expand their cultural awareness.
Summer Art Camp Instructors teach in a variety of art media and have opportunities to lead a range of arts and craft programs.
Qualifications:
Education – Acquired or actively pursuing a bachelor’s or higher degree in Arts Education, Visual Arts, or comparable field related degree and/or training courses, which may include curriculum training, early childhood development, etc.
Experience – Job related experience in teaching is preferred, however, we believe that part of our mission as an arts organization is to guide future educators by providing them quality teaching experiences. Must have valuable experience working with youth in an organized setting as a lead instructor, assistant, student teacher, volunteer, etc.
Skills Required:
Interest and ability in art and teaching. Enjoy working with children.
Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
Ability to present a positive image of the organization to members of the community
Ability to maintain professional and productive relationships with program staff, administration, parents, and all other parties involved in the production and completion of programming.
Strong organization and planning skills
Dependable, responsible and on time
Enthusiasm, patience & tact
Problem solving and analytical skills to adjust curriculum to suit student, program, and site needs
Effective written communication skill
Ability to accept guidance. Work independently and as a team.
Compensation:
The Summer Art Camp Instructor is a full-time independent contractor position. Total compensation for the seven-week period is $5,040. (Full Schedule Below)
