We are grateful for the support of The Grable Foundation who makes our youth programs possible.

 The 2021 Summer Art Camp sessions will occur in the Rotary Club building and the
St. Andrews Episcopal Church Parish Hall due to renovations.

Ages 6 to 10

Limit of six students per class

Week 1: June 14, 2021 - June 18, 2021

Paint Like the Masters!- SOLD OUT

9 AM to 12 PM with Alexis Spina
Location: Rotary Club

Learn about famous artists by making paintings inspired by them! In this class, students will study artwork by famous artists and create their own inspired artwork using acrylic, tempera, and watercolor paint! Students will learn about and explore painting using various techniques.

Fun with Color- CLOSED

9 AM to 12 PM with Alexis Spina
Location: Rotary Club
Color is one of the fundamentals of art. It’s also one of the most exciting parts. This week is all about color and the different ways we can express ourselves through its use. Campers will create batiks, bubble paintings and experiment with tissue paper color transfers.

Week 2: June 21, 2021 - June 25, 2021

Fabric Craft Sampler- SOLD OUT

9 AM to 12 PM with Alexis Spina
Location: Rotary Club

In this class, we will explore a variety of fabric and textile crafts. Students will get to weave bracelets, tie-dye some fabric, make a mini-pillow, and other fun activities! They will learn the basics of hand sewing, weaving, and more!

Hot Air Balloon Ride- SOLD OUT

1 PM to 4 PM with Alexis Spina
Location: Rotary Club

Building with our hands can be an awesome and rewarding experience. This week at art camp, campers will learn some of the basics of construction while creating paper mache hot air balloons and a collaborative marble fun run.

Week 3: June 28, 2021 - July 2, 2021

Watercolor Painting- SOLD OUT

Do you love making art and painting? Learn the basics of watercolors and paint a masterpiece! In this class, students will explore painting with watercolors. Students will try different painting techniques to create art like the masters!

Observing the World Around Us- SOLD OUT

1 to 4 PM with Alexis Spina
Location: Rotary Club

Summer is a wonderful time for outdoor nature observation! Through explorations near the swampy marshes of the scuppernong river, students will collect natural materials that catch their eye. From those materials, we will play to create shadow boxes and a collaborative branch wall hanging.

Week 4: July 12, 2021 - July 16, 2021

Hand Sewing for Kids- SOLD OUT

1 PM to 4 PM with Alexis Spina
Location: Rotary Club

Let’s make some fun critters and friendly monsters out of fabric! In this class, students will learn the basics of hand stitching. Students will draw an idea for their own stuffed animal and learn how to bring it to life!

Reuse, Reduce, Create!- SOLD OUT

9 AM to 12 PM with Alexis Spina
Location: Rotary Club
There are many materials in the world just waiting to be used, and lots of them are free! This week, campers will be focusing on recycled materials as the base for their artwork. They will learn about the impact these materials have on our world and how to help by giving them a second life. Campers will make cardboard weavings, snake puppets, and a recycled materials art wall.

Week 5: July 19, 2021 - July 23, 2021

Charcoal Nature Drawing-CLOSED

9 AM to 12 PM with Carrie Cranwell
Location: St. Andrews – 106 N. Road St.

Do you enjoy drawing and want to improve your skills? Learn how to draw the world around you while you explore drawing with charcoal sticks! In this class, students will learn the basics of how to use charcoal tools and techniques while drawing. This is a great way to learn how to draw or improve your skills!

Build Some Bling- SOLD OUT

9 AM to 12 PM with Alexis Spina
Location: Rotary Club

Wearable art allows you to show off your creation as you go about your day! In this week of summer art camp, campers will create various jewelry elements and combine them into brooches, keychains, necklaces, and more. We will also explore the history of jewelry and wearable art.

Week 6: July 26, 2021 - July 30, 2021

Make Your Mark!-CLOSED

9 AM to 12 PM with Carrie Cranwell
Location: St. Andrews – 106 N. Road St.

Join us and explore making art in new ways! In this class, students will learn the basics of making art through different types of printmaking. Students will create unique designs and artwork with a variety of different materials, such as screen printing, handmade stamps, and more! way to learn how to draw or improve your skills!

When Science and Art Collide- SOLD OUT

9 AM to 12 PM with Alexis Spina
Location: Rotary Club

Science and art make a surprisingly good combination! Through the mixing of materials, campers will learn why certain combinations produce magic-like results. This week campers will grow their own geodes, make some magical flubber, and see sidewalk chalk erupt. Campers should come prepared to get a little messy!
