This demo-focused class will cover various approaches for hand carving wax prototypes for large faceted stones, and everything a student needs to consider when creating a jewelry design in wax. Class topics will cover design options, structural aspects to securely hold the stone with durability and longevity, various waxes that are available in the wax working process, tool needs and approaches, and methods for working in a specific aesthetic. The class will conclude with how to finish the newly carved wax model, as well as proper spruing to achieve a high-quality casting. Casting will not be covered in this workshop.
All of our online workshops are recorded and, with purchase of the seat in the class, students have access to the recording(s) between workshop sessions as well as for 60 days after the workshop ends.
