Throwing, Altering, Assembling

Some Experience Required
October 14, 2023 11:00 am - 1:30 pm View in Your Timezone

In this workshop Bill will demonstrate throwing and altering clay at the wheel and assembling forms from wheel-thrown pieces. We’ll begin with a brief presentation focusing on his practice and influences to give some context. From there he’ll move into wheel throwing with a focus on line quality and gesture. Bill will demonstrate altering wet forms on the wheel as he makes folded vase shapes and squared cups. Finally, he will assemble a large, sculptural form from the pieces that he’s made.

This class is throwing-specific and will require some knowledge of throwing in order to try these techniques at home. Anyone of any level is welcome to join the class to learn about these techniques, but Bill will be making reference to things as though the audience already has basic throwing knowledge.
