Coiled Up: Figurative Building Techniques

This demonstration will focus on various figurative building techniques beginning with the hollow-build method of coiling a form. I will go over how to begin the basic foundations of a figure and then show some of the ways to bend and alter a figurative form to create gestures. This workshop is open to all experience levels and will have something for everyone, from the construction of an arm to the folding of clay fabric.

Materials Fees for this workshop are estimated to be between $55-85. This does not include materials that may need to be purchased by the student prior to the workshop. Additional firing fees may apply. Additional clay is available for purchase.

Kelsey Bowen

Kelsey Bowen grew up in the rural California foothills, spending summers making up stories and picking thistles from her socks. Her figurative sculptures serve as vessels for her self-reflection and storytelling in clay.
