Impact and Meaning: Using Alternative Materials

Objects have stories and the materials that we use to create them can add layers of meaning and intention. In this workshop, we will seek to explore alternative materials to further add impact to our jewelry-scale creations. Participants will use a combination of mixed media and metalsmithing techniques like tab settings and cold connections to incorporate found objects and unconventional materials. Students will work with paper, plastics, wood, and more to make bold designs.

Students can expect to spend $110 – $135 on materials provided by Pocosin or the instructor. This number is an estimate based on projected student usage, the final amount could be outside of this range.
