In this class, Sarah will go over how to sculpt two birds: one wall piece and one free-standing piece. Both will be solid-built, but the free-standing piece will demonstrate how to build with an armature. Sarah will share how she makes her own armatures, when to use them, and how to hollow those pieces out. For the wall piece, there will be discussion about different hanging methods and how those change based on pose. These two birds will be different species and poses in order to cover more variety in how she depicts different faces, beaks, feet, etc.

For this class, Sarah recommends intermediate-level students who have some experience handbuilding and familiarity with clay in general. Understanding clay dryness levels and its limitations are important skills to have for this class.
