Using a torch, line creation and imagery using graphite, mason stains, and a small amount of Thompson acrylic enamels will be gleefully covered. We will start from a sifted opaque base and then introduce graphite drawings. From there, we will discuss various ways of using mason stains to paint, including converting them to overglazes (painting enamels) via several methods, use of the crow quill pen and various enamels that can be utilized with the pen, firing options, building layers, etc. Surfaces will be discussed and how they impact the full integrity of the drawings and added color. Metal prep, forming, counter enameling for strength, torch options, tip sizes, multiple firing station set-up options, and heat containment will all be covered.
