In “Crafting the Abyss: 2D and 3D pattern-making” for soft sculptures, students will get insight from Tsēmā’s Interdisciplinary art practice, spanning custom-fitted performance suits to large-scale land art. The artist will introduce Potlatch as methodology, and show students how to apply Indigenous methodologies in their own making. In the workshop, the artist will guide students in creating repeating patterns for bespoke fabric, and then, making patterns for 3D sculptures

Tsēmā Igharas

Tsēmā is an award-winning interdisciplinary artist of Tāłtān Matriarchy. Using strategies of care and resistance, Tsēmā creates work that connects materials to mine sites and bodies to the land.
