In this workshop, Amy Irish will guide you through her process of creating colorful, layered ceramic surfaces— from the leather-hard stage through the final glaze firing. Using a combination of underglaze, slip, paper resist, and collage-inspired techniques, Amy will demonstrate how to build imagery, texture, and depth on the surface of your clay. She will also share her approach to glazing these layered surfaces to create a dynamic and cohesive finished piece. Techniques covered will include underglaze and slip application, combing, brushing, paper resist, sgraffito, slip trailing, oxide washes, glazing, and more.

All of our online workshops are recorded and, with purchase of the seat in the class, students have access to the recording(s) between workshop sessions as well as for 60 days after the workshop ends.
