Mindful Nature Photography

Point. Click. We’ve all done it! A joke among photographers is, when Bigfoot shows up, get the image!

Mindful Nature Photography implies a perspective that seeks to receive the gifts each day, each moment provides, photographically-speaking. Vision and personal quest drive technical decisions like shutter speed and aperture, and influence lens, filter and tripod choices. This two-day interactive, immersive workshop will combine four field sessions and four classroom sessions. The field sessions will include two photo-walks on the Columbia boardwalk as well as an excursion to Somerset Place/Lake Phelps for sunset on the first day, and an excursion to Lake Mattamuskeet for sunrise on the second day. Classroom sessions include an introductory  power point presentation on realizing your creative vision through technical choices, as well as hands-on instruction in Photoshop processing along with gentle image critiques. At the conclusion of the workshop, students will have fully processed images ready for printing—and a set of tools they can use in any nature photography setting. Students are responsible for their own means of travel to and from shoot locations.
