Riley McManus

Riley McManus is a multidisciplinary artist, whose practice primarily revolves around ceramic sculpture, incorporating diverse materials such as enameled metals and glass. His artistic journey first began on the shores of Lake Superior in northern Wisconsin. There the iron-stained clay crumbles into the waves, revealing a mosaic of ancient fossils and agates. It was here Riley first experienced the transformative potential of clay, discovering its malleable nature and the possibilities it held for creation. He earned his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from UW-Madison in 2020 and served as an Artist in Residence at The Iowa Ceramic Center and Glass Studio for two years, where he taught ceramic and fused glass courses. Riley’s work is rooted in a deep reverence for the natural world, often exploring the complex relationship between humanity and its influence on the environment.
