Cory Barkman

Cory Barkman is an award-winning, Canadian, prairie-based artist. With over 20 years of experience in art and design, he has worked with various designers, architects and private clients to create exceptionally made, functional and non-functional bespoke art pieces. His abilities and knowledge of materials are diverse, having worked designing and building furniture and lighting, making props, sets, parade floats, and large sculpture for clients like Disney, the Calgary Stampede and the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. He has experience in jewellery-making, advanced metal-working techniques (welding, machining, chasing and repousse), leather-working, wood-working, graphic and character design, and animation. Working together with his clients and designers, he draws on this diverse experience to find unique art solutions. He has worked both independently and as an art director creating reliable teams to expand the art solutions available to his clients and to work within their timelines (incorporating other artists, designers, lighting and electronics specialists). He is currently working on a series of steel sculptures which interprets a client’s family members as robots.
