Session 2: Morning Wheel Throwing

October 5 – November 9

Thursdays  |  10:00am – 12:30pm

Instructor: Lexie Koch

Interested in trying wheel throwing or maybe you’ve taken a class somewhere before? This class is multi-level, so we will cover a range of topics based on student interest and skill level. For the beginners out there, you will learn the steps to make pieces from start to finish so that you can take home pottery you can use! For the intermediate students, we’ll offer suggestions to improve your form or introduce new skills like surface decoration, making lids, throwing donuts, and more.

This class requires the ability to sit and lean forward for extended periods of time as well as use your arms, wrists, and hands to exert consistent pressure. It will also require the use of fine motor skills.

One 25 pound block of clay will be provided per person and additional clay is available for purchase, if needed. Rental tool kits are available, but feel free to bring your own tools if you have them!

If you have any questions about the course, don’t hesitate to reach out to Lexie at ceramics@pocosinarts.org .
