Anita Mills earned her B.F.A. in Ceramics and Printmaking from Texas Tech University in 1974. After completing her M.F.A. in Studio Art and Art History from the University of Texas at Austin in 1977, she was appointed Associate Professor of Art at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. During her twelve years at St. Cloud, she taught all levels of design, drawing, painting, printmaking, and the theory of art. For eight of those years she also taught a two-term course entitled, “Women in the Visual Arts: An Historical Survey of Women’s Contributions,” wherein she and her students researched and studied women art-makers from medieval times to the modern era. Currently, Anita’s studio work is in ceramics, woodturning and metalsmithing. Throughout her career as an artist, she has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions—competitive and invitational—in regional and national venues. Anita welcomes the opportunity to teach workshops in ceramics and mixed-media approaches to art making.
