Welcome Aboard!

Please extend a warm welcome to our newest board members: Brenda Brickhouse, Sandi Brickhouse Smith and George Wallace.
Brenda Brickhouse is a forward-thinking strategic leader with extensive executive experience in the energy and environmental sectors. Brenda brings a strong track record in organizational governance, leadership development, and strategic planning. She has served as a trusted board member and advisor, contributing to business model development, executive selection and coaching, and long-term visioning for mission-driven organizations. With a keen ability to identify trends and make meaningful connections, Brenda is driven by a deep desire to make a positive impact.
Sandi Brickhouse Smith is a proud Tyrrell County native, born and raised on “the Creeks Sand Hill” just south of Columbia. ]Sandi works at Cherry Farms Seed Company, where she serves as Human Resources Coordinator. In her free time, Sandi enjoys growing fresh-cut flowers, hunting for antique and thrift treasures, diving into a good book, and taking scenic cruises through Columbia and the beautiful backroads of Tyrrell County.
George Wallace is a dedicated arts advocate and former Associate Vice President at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. From 2014 to 2020, he was a valued and enthusiastic member of the Friends of the Gregg Museum advisory board, where he consistently championed the arts and supported the museum’s mission. George is perhaps best known in the Raleigh arts community as the founder and driving force behind the North Ridge Country Club Art Gala—an innovative event that uniquely integrated artists into the process, creating a mutually rewarding experience for artists, attendees, and the club itself.
We thank Brenda, Sandi and George for their service and look forward to working with them!
Scholarships

“Receiving this scholarship and having the opportunity to take this class not only was a great way to meet new artists and build professional connections but has also improved my artistic practice as a whole. I know these techniques will be appearing in my work many times in the future.

Summer Fellowship

Pocosin Arts invites applications for our Summer Fellowship Program! This eight-week program offers participants the opportunity to live and work on campus while taking part in four workshops during Pocosin’s eight-week summer session. Fellows alternate weekly between assisting with campus operations and fully immersing themselves in a workshop – with no work responsibilities during their enrolled workshop weeks.
This fellowship offers hands-on studio experience, meaningful connections with professional artists, and the opportunity to join a supportive creative community – building relationships and skills that last well beyond the program.
Fellows receive free workshop tuition, housing (a private room with shared bath), and meals for the duration of the program.
Recipients are required to spend 8 weeks on campus from May 30 to July 25, 2026.
