Community Classes for Adults

Other Mediums

Our classes that instruct using mediums other than our core concentrations are open to all skill levels, from beginner to experienced.  We will teach you the basics on how to work with each material, while giving you ample time to explore your creativity.  Students will work to create a finished piece to take home with them at the end of the class.

Classes meet Tuesday evenings from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Each class meets for 6 weeks


September 12 – October 17, 2017

Instructor: Mark Arnold

Title: Bandsaw Wood Boxes

Description: Students will learn to use the bandsaw to create unique wood boxes.  Techniques like hand carving with chisels and adding color with milk paints will be covered.  

Skill Level:  Beginners to Experienced Artists welcome

Cost: $75

Material kits will be provided for the class, and are included in the cost of the class

March 7 – April 11, 2017

Instructor: Ben Jordan, Pocosin Arts’ Ceramics Artist in Residence

Title: Candle Making

Description: Students will learn a variety of ways to make their very own candles. Students will learn several techniques to make candles, utilizing mold shapes, mason jars and dipping techniques.  The candles will be made using bees wax and paraffin wax, with options for food coloring and essential oils that will color, decorate, and scent the candles!

Skill Level:  Beginners to Experienced Artists welcome
