Torch-Fired Enamelling

September 1-4, 2016


Workshop Description: using a torch, we will cover various methods of line creation to create the imagery and feeling one is trying to convey. successive layers of liquids & sgraffito, transparents, opaques, graphite, acid-etching, underglaze lines, under/& over-firing, and more will be used to build and preserve drawings in the final piece. No matter the student’s skill level, there will be the opportunity to immerse oneself in new ideas and principles. Cold-connection and minimal soldering skill options for your piece(s) can be explored.

Some metalsmithing and enameling skills are necessary. Neither need be extensive though.

Bio: Anne has been an independent studio artist for 14 years and exhibits her enameled jewelry predominantly in juried craft shows across the country. Her work is included in numerous exhibitions, collections, and publications with the most recent being: Alchemy3, the 15th Juried International Enamel Exhibition of the Enamelist Society (traveling), upcoming Materials: Hard & Soft Feb 5 – April 1, 2016, and the acquisition of two pieces by the Enamel Arts Foundation during October 2015.

Most recent publications which have featured Anne’s work include: Art Jewelry Today 3, Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist, Art Jewelry magazine (May and November 2014), Behind the Brooch, by Lark Books. She has also been invited to be included in the upcoming book Designing Contemporary Jewelry by Loretta Lam, due out in 2016.

Anne is the current Treasurer and Board member of both the Society of North American Goldsmiths and The Enamelist Society.torch firing side view closer

Housing

Riverside Housing is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Rooms are furnished with 4 XL-twin bunk beds (quad rooms) or with one queen bed (private rooms). There are 7 quads and 2 private rooms in the lodge. If reserving a bed in a quad room, please consider your ability to access the top bunk - or to convince you roomies to allow you to use a lower bed.
